My Sexual Health (MSH) TEAM

The best way to validate your knowledge, skills and experience as a Sexual Healthcare Provider in South Africa, is to be a member of the My Sexual Health Team. Only highly qualified and experienced sexual healthcare providers are accepted onto the MSH TEAM.

How can Medical Doctors Join the MSH Team?

MSH Team Requirements:

  • Registered Healthcare Provider

  • Active member of SASHA (this is because SASHA is a member of WAS and WAS members prescribe to the highest ethical standards in Sexual Health – beyond that of the local registration body.)

  • 100 hours of Sexual Health Coursework (i.e CPD Points)

  • 30 hours of Supervision

  • 1000 clinical hours of sexual health work

  • At least one year Sexology Training Club Membership

  • 14-hour Sexual attitude reassessment with a one-page philosophy document submitted

How can a Physiotherapist Join the MSH Team?

MSH Membership Tiers:

  • Supervisors (have a Master’s Degree/PhD in Sexual Health or more than 10 years’ experience as a MSH Team Member.

  • Senior MSH Team Members (meet ALL the requirements)

  • Junior MSH Team Members (meet some of the requirements and are actively working towards meeting the full requirements).

How can a Counsellor or Counselling Psychologist join the MSH Team?

MSH Team Requirements for Psychotherapists (to be a Sex Therapist or Sexologist):

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology/Social Work and 2 years post graduate experience.

  • HPCSA Registration (or equivalent in another country).

  • Southern African Sexual Health Association (SASHA) Membership.

  • Ninety Hours of Academic Coursework in Sexual Health from a MSH accredited institution or MSH Sexology Courses. Joining the Sexology Training Club should get you there soon!

  • Twenty additional hours of SEXUALITY COUNSELLING training. (Easily obtained by joining the MSH Sexology Training Club!)

  • Twenty additional hours of SEX THERAPY training. Provided by MSH Sex Therapists through MSH Sexology Courses. Training from other accredited institutions will also be accepted.

  • Fourty hours of supervision with MSH Accredited Supervisors (of which 10 must be with one supervisor and 5 hours have to be individual supervision)

  • Two-day SAR – Sexual Attitude Reassessment Workshop
